Internment in America?

I didn't hear about this at the time, but it definitely looks like something to worry about: were the Republicans operating their own private jail at Pier 57 during their national convention.

It's in the voice?

It would appear that people with attractive voices are likely to be more sexually adventurous. Which makes a nice headline, but it's the same old same old, when it comes to confusing correlation with cause and effect.

What's really scary is the number of people who will read that and think "Well the security forces must have had a good reason"...

According to CNN the pier was operated by NYPD so their station-houses didn't get overun. Inside the convention the Secret Service ran the security. Not sure if this was setting a precedent, but probally not knowing how American politics works.

It sounds horrendous. Are there any other stories about it? If thousands of people were being penned up there, there should be reports from all over, I'd have thought.

There was stuff in Village Voice (http://www.villagevoice.com/issues/0435/ferguson3.php) and I read a report via the World War 3 Report's mailing list (http://weblog.ww3report.com/node/view/rnc.html). I'd meant to comment about this when I got the email, but the report hadn't reached the website then. Yes, I am disgusted that there was no coverage at all of this. I'm glad that there was no huge riot and massive bloodshed--that would have got the media's attention--but the complete blindness of the world's media is astonishing, bearing in mind how much was going on in NYC. The pink statue of liberty is particularly appealing.
