He's dead sneaky, that Donald Rumsfeld. By suggesting that Britain's contribution to the war might not be necessary, he's managed to get a bunch of otherwise sensible people screaming to be allowed to play....

We should let the bastard paint his own bloody fences!

hmph. You're right.

You know, sometimes I wish I had been born in a different country.
Are there any marches soon, Steve? I know the Yanks, bless 'em, are planning vast demonstrations on the 15th of March... Apparently they're going for the White House.

demos

The Edinburgh stop the war website (http://www.edinburghstw.org.uk/) has a local (ie Edinburgh) diary: the national stop the war (www.stopwar.org.uk/) website has links to other events elsewhere (though I think it's very badly organised and laid out, haven't these people ever heard of Jakob Nielsen???)

Nielsen?

Far too few folk seem to have noticed him, or if they have they've not taken notice. He seems to recognize the fact, too, with all the references from current findings to identical ones x years ago (where x is a depressingly, and increasingly, long way back).

The stop the war site is definitely one of the most annoying, navigationally, I've come across for a good while.

Re: Nielsen?

Maybe my contribution could be to donate some time to update their website. Sigh.

All rather vague, I'm afraid, but....

I think someone mentioned that last Thursday's demo was due to become weekly. Also, someone in [livejournal.com profile] edinburgers mentioned a "youth" protest (but open to all) on Calton Hill on Monday 17th March at 2:30pm (later changed to 4:00pm, I think).
