What I'm doing is taking advantage of the fact that ibuprofen is in the aspirin family, while codeine and paracetamol aren't. So, it's one large ibuprofen-clone every eight hours, interleaved with the codeine-paracetamol every time they feel as if they're wearing off.
The best painkiller I've found yet was at a party last weekend: stick a nitrous oxide cylinder (creamwhipping variety) into a soda siphon and breathe in a good lungful. Goodbye to pain and hello to pretty colours and general exaggeration of anything else in the bloodstream....
